This part of our site looks at the subject of energy saving and other ‘green’ issues relating to the home.

Wind turbine

Wind turbines such as this are becoming an increasingly popular addition to many UK properties.

Very few people in the UK can be unaware of the recent demands to cut carbon emissions and reduce fuel costs. Homes are responsible for approximately 28 per cent of carbon dioxide emissions in the UK and are a major contributor to climate change.

We take a look at the main energy costs and look at ways you can reduce your energy usage. We also examine alternative methods of producing energy such as wind turbines and solar heating.

As fossil fuels begin to run out, their cost has significantly increased. For example, crude oil prices have more than doubled between 2003 and 2005 and gas prices have largely followed suit.

We all have a responsibility to tackle the subject of climate change and, if we can reduce our energy costs at the same time, our children may benefit from a cleaner planet as well as a bigger inheritance!
